Imagine a charming display where a selection of fall-themed magnets is showcased inside a series of ornate vintage DIY frames. Each frame, with its unique character, adds a touch of nostalgia and elegance to the collection.
Here is a list of supplies needed for the magnets:
Use your quickset resin of choice, (Alumilite Amazing White Casting Resin – Fast Drying) and pour into your IOD Frames Mould.
Once dry and released from mould, give each frame two coats of paint leaving the centre where we will be decoupaging, a lighter color. I painted the frames in Fusion Mineral Paint; Conservatory, Bellwood, and Cashmere. I made sure the inside of each frame was painted with cashmere.
Print out images of your choice onto rice paper.
Using Pentart Decoupage Varnish & Glue, or your medium of choice, decoupage only the back onto your magnet. The video explains this very well and shows you how to do this carefully so you do not tear your paper.
Once you decoupage medium is dry use a razor knife to cut away excess rice paper.
Take outside and spray a couple light coats of Krylon mat spray to avoid your print from smearing.your print from smearing. (NOTE* I used an inkjet printer, so this step is necessary)
Put a nice thick coat of Pentart Fineline Crackle Part 1 on decoupage area. Let dry.
Once dry add a thick coat of Pentart Fineline Crackle Part 2 and let dry.
The fine line crocs are hard to see at this point. They will start to show up in the next step. 🙂
Rub on Pentarts Antique (Umbra) Paste Wax to reveal the fine line cracks.
Using my finger rub Pentart Metallic Gold Paste Wax to hit the surfaces of the frame to reveal the detail, and give it a more vintage feel.
Glue a magnet to the back. & display on the fridge.
**NOTE** The larger frames don’t have a back. You could decoupage rice paper on to card stock and tape it to the back of the frame. I chose to print on a fine art paper and tape it to the back.
This collection could be used to decorate refrigerators, magnetic boards, or any magnetic surface, enhancing your space with the warm and cozy feeling of Autumn. Each vintage frame magnet, featuring picturesque fall landscapes, serves not only as a decorative piece but also as a reminder of the season’s beauty. Whether you’re hanging cherished family recipes, love notes, or simply bringing a touch of fall into your home, these delightful magnets will create a welcoming atmosphere that captures the essence of autumn. Embrace the season and let the warmth of your DIY creations transform your space into a cozy autumn retreat.
