Christmas Dining Room DIYs: Vintage-Inspired Details for a Cozy, Collected Look

These Christmas dining room DIYs were all created with one goal in mind. I wanted the space to feel cozy, meaningful, and thoughtfully collected. Every project was made specifically for our dining room this season. This room is where we gather. It’s where meals are shared and memories are made. That made it the perfect place to add a few handmade Christmas touches.

In today’s post, I’m sharing all of the DIY projects that came together in this space. Each one has a soft vintage feel and works beautifully together.

A Christmas Tree Set in an Urn

One of my favourite additions this year is the Christmas tree. Instead of a traditional stand, I refinished an urn to use as the base. The urn gives the tree height and presence. It also feels classic and timeless.
I love how it anchors the corner of the dining room. This project was simple but made a big impact.
I’ll be linking the full tutorial below so you can recreate it.

DIY Bottle Brush Tree Stands

Bottle brush trees are so popular for Christmas DIYs. I created custom bottle-brush tree stands to add a touch of charm. They work perfectly in the china cabinet and on the plate rail.
The stands also help tie the trees into the rest of the decor. This is one of those small DIYs that adds a lot of charm. You can find the kits here.

Blue, White, and Gold Snowflake Resin Ornaments

If you remember last year, our pencil tree was very simple. It was styled with gold leaves and blueberries only. This year, I added handmade snowflake ornaments. I used Redesign by Prima Moulds: Paper Craft Charms and Frosted Snowflake Wonders.
They’re done in blue, white, and gold tones. The colours coordinate beautifully with the dining room. These resin snowflakes added texture without overwhelming the tree.

I’ll also share a full DIY for these.

Vintage-Style Gold Candlesticks

Another favourite project was updating the candlesticks. They started black and very modern. I refinished them to look like vintage gold candlesticks.
The finish has a warm, aged look. They now work perfectly with the rest of the room.

I styled them on the dining table with battery taper candles. They add a soft glow without feeling formal.

I had a little bonus. I’ll share the link to the printable above. I purchased it from Ooh La La Shop and slightly desaturated the reds to move them toward blue. There are tons of tutorials out on YouTube on how to do that. This vintage-looking frame, my friend, was picked up for me at HomeSense.

A Cozy Dining Room, Made to Gather

This dining room feels special this Christmas. Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s personal. Each DIY added character and meaning. They feel like they belong here.

If you’re decorating for the season, I hope this inspires you. Sometimes the smallest handmade details make the biggest difference.
