Living Room & Front Entrance Christmas Decor in Blue, White & Gold

Living Room & Entryway Christmas Decor – A Cozy Welcome in Blue, White, and Gold

Our front entrance steps right up into the living room, so when I decorate for Christmas, these two spaces are always styled together. This year’s living room and front entrance Christmas decor focuses on creating a calm, traditional welcome that feels collected, cozy, and connected from the moment you walk in. You can see the living room as soon as you enter the door, and from the sofa, you can look straight back toward the entryway. With only a simple railing and a few stairs separating them, everything must flow naturally from one space to the next.

This Christmas, I leaned into a timeless look in blue, white, and gold, with plenty of vintage touches throughout. Blue, white, and gold have become my traditional Christmas palette — one I return to year after year. This season, I kept those familiar colours and expanded the blues, mixing navy, softer blues, and richer royal tones while quietly letting go of turquoise. Sticking with a palette I already love also makes sense practically, allowing me to refresh my decor thoughtfully without feeling the need to start over each Christmas.

Sofa & Pillow Christmas Styling

This year, the pillow styling reflects my traditional Christmas palette of blue, white, and gold, layered in a way that feels relaxed and welcoming.

A deep navy pillow anchors the look and adds richness, while one of my Hope Has Come pillows in white with soft blue details brings in a reminder of the season. To warm things up, I added a new gold pillow that I recently made myself. The gold fabric adds texture, warming the blues and gently complementing the gold accents throughout the room.

Rather than changing everything from year to year, I like to mix familiar pieces with a few thoughtful additions. The combination of old favourites and something newly made keeps the sofa feeling fresh, personal, and comfortable — exactly what a living room should be at Christmas.

Sofa Table Christmas Styling

The sofa table sits in front of the wall, with a vintage window frame hanging above it, displaying the words “Unto us a child is born” on one of the panels—a simple reminder of the true reason we celebrate Christmas.

Below the window frame, I kept the sofa table styling balanced and understated. A mix of small Christmas trees, a tiered tray, and a vintage book stand adds height and interest without feeling busy. The trees soften the look, while the tiered tray allows for layering in a way that still feels tidy and intentional.

One of the most meaningful pieces on the sofa table is a vintage home Bible Reading book passed down through my husband’s family. Including heirloom pieces like this brings depth to the decor and adds a sense of history and faith that can’t be replicated with store-bought decor alone.

Because this area connects the living room to the dining room, I wanted it to feel calm and settled rather than overly styled. The mix of greenery, wood tones, and timeworn details keeps this spot feeling collected and personal.

Simple Coffee Table Styling

I kept the coffee table styling very simple this year. When a room already has warmth and character, the coffee table doesn’t need much. A shallow bowl filled with greenery, pinecones, and blue ornaments was all it needed. Resting it on a doily adds softness and a quiet nod to vintage style.

Leaving breathing room on the table helps the space feel relaxed instead of overdone.

Vintage Chairs, Antique Cabinet & Cozy Layers

The vintage chairs and antique cabinet add depth and character to the living room, bringing in a sense of history that balances the softer furnishings around them. Styled simply for Christmas, this area feels collected and timeless rather than overly decorated.

A large basket filled with blankets and pillows sits between the cabinet and the Christmas tree, adding both texture and practicality. It’s an easy way to keep extra layers close while visually softening the space.

The vintage chairs are finished with a pair of small handmade pillows, adding a cozy, personal touch. These are pieces I’ve been working on behind the scenes and will be part of a new Cottage Collection coming to my website in the new year. Subtle details like these help the space feel warm and lived in, especially during the winter months.

The Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree anchors the living room. I kept the palette soft and traditional with blues, whites, and touches of gold. Ribbon and classic ornaments give the tree a timeless feel that complements the surrounding furniture and vintage pieces.

It adds presence to the room without overwhelming it.

Styling Above the Piano

Because the piano is in view of the front entrance, it becomes one of the first focal points in the home. I like to think of it much like a mantel — a place where a few thoughtful layers can set the tone without requiring a complete overhaul each season.

Many of the pieces stay in the same place from season to season, and I swap out a few elements to reflect the season. For Christmas, I changed the artwork in the frames, replaced the fall florals with a small Christmas tree, and added a riser under the lamp to give it a bit more height.

The handmade corbels remained in place, adding architectural interest. I’ll share more about these in the new year, including a video and DIY kits for those who enjoy adding handcrafted details to their homes.

The lamp on the piano is another example of keeping things simple. I used it throughout the fall and didn’t feel the need to replace it for Christmas. Instead, I turned the glass globe around so it better suited the season.  It’s also one of the first lights I turn on each morning when I come downstairs, adding a warm, welcoming glow to the space.

This kind of decorating keeps the process manageable and enjoyable. By leaving much of the layout in place and replacing just a few key pieces, the piano feels refreshed for Christmas with minimal extra work.

Front Entrance Christmas Decor

Blanket Ladder Chair Vignette & Entry Railing

Beside the piano, I created a cozy corner with a blanket ladder and chair that naturally leads the eye toward the front entrance. Soft throws, a pillow, and layered textures give this vignette a calm, welcoming feel and help visually connect the living space to the entryway.

This is also where I begin to introduce the greenery and garland that continues into the front entrance. Because the soft-touch garland I used is a slightly different colour from the rest of the greenery in my home, I took a bit of extra care to help it blend with the decor. I layered in the same greenery I use throughout my home at the corners, added blue bows and navy poinsettias, and tucked in a few delicate gold leaves for warmth.

Those same details continue along the railing in the front entrance, where the garland is draped and finished with vintage glass ornaments I thrifted. Repeating the greenery, ribbons, poinsettias, and gold accents keeps the garland cohesive as it transitions from the living room into the entryway, even though the spaces are open to one another. Even though the greenery itself is different, these small touches help everything feel connected and intentional rather than mismatched.

To see how I placed this soft-touch garland over my bannisters with vintage glass ball ornaments I thrifted, see last year’s front entry post here.

I love mixing different shades of blue — navy, softer blues, and deeper royal tones — throughout my home. Keeping the colour palette consistent helps everything flow naturally from room to room. Repeating small details, such as greenery and ribbon, is one of the easiest ways to tie spaces together without requiring everything to match exactly.

By carrying these elements through both spaces, the transition from the living room to the front entrance feels natural and cohesive.

Vintage Dresser Styling in the Front Entrance

The vintage dresser in the front entrance is styled with a few seasonal touches to reflect the Christmas season. A small tree sits in a thrifted silver champagne bucket, tied with a blue ribbon and placed on a riser layered with a doily for a soft, vintage touch. On the mirror, I hung a wreath and swapped the artwork in the frame below for a winter scene.

A stack of baskets at the side holds our keys and the everyday items we grab on our way out the door. Adding a simple bow keeps them looking pretty while still being practical. I love having storage here that keeps everything close at hand but tucked neatly out of sight.

One of my favourite things about this spot is the reflection in the mirror. You can catch a glimpse of the entryway bench with its pillow, along with hints of the garland and living room beyond, which helps everything feel connected as soon as you walk in.

Entryway Bench with Pillow & Blanket

A pillow and blanket on the entry bench instantly make the space feel welcoming. It’s a small detail, but it adds comfort and sets the tone for the rest of the home decor.

Decorating Above the Entry Closet

One of my favourite places to decorate in the entryway is the space above the closet. I moved my sleigh here from the kitchen, and this year it felt especially meaningful because I finally finished painting it!

The area around the sleigh is styled simply with small trees and greenery. A vintage basket filled with books, candles wrapped with a bow, and white wooden snowflakes adds warmth and texture. Behind it sits an old iron window grate, from which I hung a set of bells finished with navy bows. Together, these layers add height, charm, and a touch of nostalgia.

A Home That Feels Cohesive

Because the living room and front entrance are so closely connected, I always think of them as one continuous space. Using a consistent palette of blue, white, and gold, paired with vintage furniture and meaningful details, helps everything feel cohesive and calm.
