I recently shared that our bathroom was one of the last rooms in our home still waiting for a refresh. Today I’m so excited to reveal our cozy cottage bathroom makeover with Vintage Autumn decor! With a fresh coat of paint, a vintage family vanity, new brass lighting, and soft seasonal accents, this little space now feels like a welcoming part of our farmhouse bathroom refresh. 🍂
Even though we’ve given this room a fresh coat of paint, which instantly brightened the space, I still have future plans for a beadboard bathroom makeover and maybe even wallpaper for a little more cottage charm down the road. For now, the soft white walls create the perfect backdrop for seasonal decorating.
The vanity has its own story to tell — it’s a vintage dresser that came from my husband’s family. At one point, it had been painted black, and over time the finish naturally began to distress and crackle. I loved the character it had, so when I repainted it in white, I chose to let that underlying texture peek through. The result is a vintage vanity bathroom look that feels right at home in this cottage-style space.
And then there’s the lighting — I’d had my eye on these fixtures for over a year, and finally bringing them in feels like the perfect finishing touch. The warm brass paired with the soft glass shades gives the whole room a cozy glow and ties in beautifully with this cottage-style bathroom makeover.
Beside the vanity, a small wooden stool adds another layer of coziness. I styled it with one of my Vintage Autumn Collection hand towels, tucked inside basket of soft fall florals, with candles, and a brass candle snuffer alongside. It’s the simple details like these that make the space feel warm and welcoming.
For fall, I styled the bathroom with the soft autumn palette from the Vintage Autumn Collection — and it turned out to be the perfect finishing touch for this farmhouse bathroom refresh. The gentle watercolor pumpkins, muted florals, and scripture details bring warmth without overwhelming the space.
A hand towel draped in a basket on the stool, a vase and soap dispenser on the vanity, and a few soft seasonal touches make the room feel cozy and faith-filled. These little details are simple fall bathroom decorating ideas that show how easy it can be to refresh a space for the fall season.
One of my favorite parts of this cozy cottage bathroom makeover was mixing in thrifted bathroom decor and a little DIY. Seasonal decorating doesn’t have to be expensive — some of the most charming details in this room came from garage sales and secondhand shops. Wicker baskets, vintage looking prints, and small ceramic treasures now fill the shelves with that collected-over-time look I love.
On the wall shelves, you’ll also spot a simple DIY I shared in a reel: vintage frames paired with autumn greeting cards. It’s one of the easiest DIY bathroom decorating ideas for fall — and it fits beautifully into this farmhouse-inspired refresh.
This may be one of the smallest spaces in our home, but it now reflects the heart of our cozy cottage style. From the cottage-style bathroom makeover details like freshly painted vintage vanity and lighting, to the cozy bathroom makeover touches of thrifted finds and faith-filled accents, every piece tells a story. It’s a reminder that even in small rooms, gratitude and beauty can shine through.
Now, instead of being “the room we still need to paint,” this bathroom has become one of my favorite little corners of our home. The warm brass lighting, vintage-inspired details, and faith-filled fall accents make it feel welcoming and peaceful.
If you’ve been waiting to refresh a room in your home, let this be your encouragement — a few fresh updates, a little creativity, and some thrifted treasures can go a long way.
Even though this cozy cottage bathroom refresh already feels brighter and more welcoming, I still have a few plans to make it even more charming. Adding beadboard and maybe even a soft, vintage-inspired wallpaper, will give the walls extra character and tie in beautifully with the farmhouse style I love.
Another update I’m considering is changing out the faucet. Right now, it’s oil-rubbed bronze, and while it still works, I’d love something that ties in better with the brass lighting. I don’t want stainless steel, so I’m leaning toward a gold finish. Due to the original drilling of the vanity, the faucet will need to remain on the side and likely stay in the same style. What do you think — should I make the switch to gold, or leave it as-is? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
I’m also on the hunt for the perfect shower curtain and a brass curtain rod to finish off. In my mind, I can already see a cottage-style shower curtain that will bring both softness and function. I’m also searching for window coverings that add privacy while keeping the airy, farmhouse feel of the space.
These farmhouse bathroom updates will come in time, but for now I’m simply grateful for how far this little bathroom has come. With a vintage vanity, seasonal decor, and thrifted details, this cozy cottage bathroom makeover with Vintage Autumn decor proves that even small changes can make a big difference in creating a warm and welcoming home.
It wouldn’t be a true makeover without a little before-and-after, right? This bathroom was once one of the last untouched rooms in our home — not outdated, but still waiting to be freshened up. It didn’t yet have the same light, airy feel as the rest of the house. Now, with fresh paint on the wall and our vintage vanity, new brass lighting, and cozy fall accents, it feels like a completely new space. 🍂
Before: After:
It’s amazing what a few thoughtful updates — and a mix of thrifted finds, DIY projects, and seasonal decor — can do to refresh even the smallest of spaces.
👉 Don’t forget to tell me in the comments what you think about the faucet! Would you keep the oil-rubbed bronze, or switch to gold to match the lighting?
With Grace,
Kimberly
